Marketing Plans - Keep it Simple

We're great believers in making marketing plans simple – because if they weren't easy to follow, you wouldn't use them – right? There are usually 2 types of marketing plan:- the type that you were asked to produce for your bank manager or boss and the type that you actually want to (and can) use as a guide to keep your marketing on track for the year ahead.

There's no reason why a well-written plan shouldn't cover both of these target audiences. It saves you writing two of them and it also means it's more likely to be useful to you. As long as you keep the key components of a marketing plan (see below) you should be able to construct it in a style that's easy to use.

A marketing plan is like any other form of planning, it needs to clearly establish :

  • Where you are now
  • What your budget is
  • Where you'd like to be

and (most critical in our opinion)

How you're going to do it, or as we call it at MarketingPlanWiz – the Action Plan.

If you include these it should be easy for you to measure and evaluate your marketing during and at the end of your financial year. If you use nothing else, the Action Plan is your list of things to do and can be the difference between success and failure. From here you can delegate, put into action and follow progress over the year. Simple!
